This is my daily favorite protein shake made in my Vita-Mix blender:
It can be my breakfast or a snack
1 scoop of Jay Robb Egg White Vanilla protein
1/2 scoop Hemp Force with Cocoa and Maca
Approx. 1 cup vanilla unsweetened almond milk (Silk)
A handful of frozen sliced banana and a small handful of frozen blueberries (organic)
Unsweetened shredded coconut
A sprinkle of PNB power sometimes
Kale and/or spinach (organic)
a little water if necessary and then BLEND–YUMMY!!
Occasionally, I have a small serving of a whole grain hot cereal, I will make the above shake without the kale and spinach (sometimes) and pour it on to my hot cereal….Also yummy and filling!
I feel energized and ready for my day. Occasionally, I have two during a busy and strenuous massage practice day.
I love this shake because there is nothing better than PNB, CHOCOLATE AND BANANAS IN A CREAMY SHAKE:)) A DESSERT THAT IS A MEAL! WOW!!!
Start with the Protein Powder(s), add your favorite fruits/seeds, non-dairy milk/water and add some greens and make this smoothie your own!

I often talk or write on team DDPYOGA about eating dairy free and why I do so. So let me take a minute to share my personal reasons with you.
In 2005, I had pneumonia and then was left with residual asthma. I needed several inhalers (including one specifically for exercise induced asthma) and also a pill to manage my asthma. I recalled that as a nurse, I had frequently discussed reducing or eliminating dairy with my patients who had excessive and /or thickened mucous in their nasal passages, sinuses, throat and lungs which often contributed in their frequent sinus infections, bronchitis and asthma problems etc.
I decided to take my own advice and eliminate my dairy. Over time, I had eliminated my reoccurring sinus infections and was able to eventually eliminate all my asthmas inhalers. I have to say that my doctors were impressed!
Eating dairy free played a huge part in the healing of my lungs. I do enjoy drinking coconut or almond milk and occasionally eating some sheep or goat cheese and but I prefer to leave the cow’s milk for their baby cows! I also use the Netti Pot frequently to help keep my sinuses clear.

I first met Diamond Dallas Page in 1999. He was still in the wrestling ring and I was his massage therapist. I fixed his body and he later helped me fix mine:)) In Jan. 2000 I was 6 months shy of turning 50 and was over weight, feeling old, hormonal, sad and afraid. I had just buried my mother after watching her have several heart attacks/strokes in an 18 month period and knew that I was traveling down her same path and was helpless to stop the train wreck that was coming. I believed what the doctors had told me. They reminded me that this is what happens as one grows older and go through menopause, gains weight, eventually gets sick and then dies. Dallas had his own ideas on aging!!
He first listened to my sad story and then he looked me in the eyes and said “STOP WHINING ABOUT GETTING OLDER AND START GETTING HEALTHIER BY EATING GOOD FOODS AND TO START MOVING YOUR BODY EVERY DAY. ” HE SAID THAT I WAS WORTH MY EFFORTS:)) HE ALSO TOLD ME THAT I NEEDED TO MOVE MYSELF TO THE TOP OF MY PRIORITY LIST. HIS WORDS CHANGED MY LIFE BECAUSE I CHANGED MY ATTITUDE AND TOOK CONTROL OF MY LIFE! I CHANGED MY APPROACH TOWARD AGING AND LIVING A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE. I BECAME A PARTICIPANT IN MY OWN LIFE AND TOOK RESPONSIBILITY FOR WHAT WAS HAPPENING TO ME.
6 months later–HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME I was 64 pounds lighter, lost many and went from an 18-20 dress size to a size 8. I felt 50 and FABULOUS!
SO BEGAN HIS CONCEPT OF DDPYOGA BECAUSE I WAS THE FIRST PERSON TO BELIEVE AND ACT ON HIS WORDS! This is why many of you in the DDPYOGA family know me as the “Godmother” of DDPYOGA and am the official 1st member:)
For my 61 birthday after reading “Wheat Belly” by Dr. Davis, I decided to raise my nutrition to the next level (I had been eating dairy free since 2005 and gluten free since 2007–see later blogs for more details) and eliminated most processed foods including all those gluten free goodies that had hit the market and convinced people that since it was “gluten free” that it was healthy! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME–I LOST 20 MORE LBS AND 2 DRESS SIZES AND SEVERAL INCHES. I WAS WEARING SIZE 4 SKINNY JEANS TO MY BIRTHDAY PARTY:) LESSON FINALLY LEARNED–YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT!!
I have been living his DDPYOGA lifestyle for 12 YEARS now. It was NEVER intended to be a diet but rather a way in which to eat, exercise, live and age in better health. It is definitely about attitude and self worth.
I have had quite the experience in aging along side Dallas and my DDPYOGA family and I look forward to sharing more of my journey and my discoveries on how to age in good health with you. I challenge YOU TO TAKE YOUR OWN HEALTHY JOURNEY!!
